Ribbons

Sweet Dreams in the Witch House is a dynamic and flowing painting containing many "ribbons". The most predominant to my eye is the line that starts as the book corner, runs down through the woman's arm, up past her shoulder and flows perfectly into the drawing etched in the wall behind her. The circlular arches of the couch she is laying on are also echoed by the drawing on the wall. Of the three main linear parts of the drawing behind her, the middle line points down directly to the pile of books in front of the woman leaving the viewer to interprete the importance of the books. The arch of her body is echoed by the couch behind her, giving it a feminine and softer feeling. The elements flow into each other like an unspoken language for the viewer to see and understand.
